Side one.
Where it began: nine strangers, one record, no skipping.
A monthly evening for hearing one record from start to finish, with people who would rather listen together.
Something for the commute. Something to work to.
The Long Play exists because most of us stopped listening the way we used to: start to finish, doing nothing else, with the sleeve in our hands.
So we are making an evening for it.
One record, chosen in advance. A good pair of speakers. A room of people who put their phones away for forty minutes and hear the same thing at the same time.
Nobody has to know anything about music.
You only have to stay for the whole side.
Every face here is a Listener: the people who make the evening what it is.
Each evening is its own room, with its own record, its own people and its own pace.

Where it began: nine strangers, one record, no skipping.

I had not listened to a whole album without doing something else since I was a teenager. I forgot how much there is in one.
Nobody explained the record to me. That was the best part.
I came alone and was nervous about it. By the second side it did not matter who I had come with.
I went home and played it again the next morning, start to finish, before I looked at my phone.
Forty minutes of nothing to do but hear. I slept better that night.
There was a silence after the last track that nobody wanted to break.

A monthly evening where a small group listens to one album from start to finish, together, without talking over it.
